Name: Jala Vicario-Robinson
Hometown: Kitchener-Waterloo
Summer Internship: Bhima’s Warung
Top Achievement: I have many achievements I am proud of as a cook, from graduating my first year at The Stratford Chefs School with the top cookery mark in my class, to being chef de partie at the restaurant I have worked at for the past two years. Outside of cooking, I am extremely proud of the relationships I have with the people closest to me. Without the support of my amazing girlfriend, sisters, parents, and friends, I wouldn’t be where I am.
Favourite Food: Probably grilled vegetables, or cured meats.
Quirky Fact: I was part of my highschool’s competitive Improv team, and have been coaching the team since I graduated, two years ago.
Career Goal: My career goals are not as linear as owning a restaurant or becoming a teacher. My goal throughout my career, no matter what I am doing, is to always be learning. Right now, I love learning new things in the kitchen from my chefs and co-workers, but also learning from my own mistakes and successes. I wish to continue learning this way throughout my career as a chef.
