Wine Instructor

After retiring early from a 30 year career as a college professor, Bob enrolled in the ISG sommelier program. He completed the final diploma level in 2005, all the while overseeing the wine program at Smith & Latham, a restaurant run by his wife, Frances and her business partner Robert Smith, both graduates of the Chefs School. Bob formed a wine buying group under the auspices of his Winesmith Services consulting business to hold tastings and complete private cellar acquisitions. While acknowledging that wine is, after all, only fermented grape juice, Bob loves to encourage everyone to taste wine and learn to appreciate the 3000 year history in the glass.
